School of Surveying and Geospatial Information Engineering hosts GIS Day 2024 event .

World GIS Day was established in 1999 to raise awareness among the general public, students, professionals, and managers about the capabilities of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The day aims to promote the use of this technology in addressing both immediate and long-term challenges. Commemorative activities are often organized in the form of events such as conferences, workshops, exhibitions, student competitions, and educational initiatives on a global scale.

Universities, government agencies, and private enterprises seize the opportunity to showcase their projects, research findings, and initiatives related to the application of GIS. In line with global trends, the GIS Department of the School of Surveying and Geospatial Information Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Tehran, is scheduled to host GIS Day 2024 event on November 30, 1403. The objective is to enhance students' understanding of the significance and role of GIS within the national business landscape.
