UT Researchers collaborating with Tarbiat Modars Uni. developed a chip for sperm separation.
Researchers at the University of Tehran, led by Dr. Mehdi Moghimi Zand and in collaboration with Dr. Mansoureh Movahedin, have designed a new chip for sperm separation. This chip uses the phenomenon of rheotaxis to separate healthy and motile sperm without the need for additional preparation steps. Clinical trials have shown that this device can achieve up to 100% separation of motile sperm in less than five minutes. This advancement could improve the outcomes of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) and increase fertility rates.
