A Laboratory prototype of an intelligent artificial hand designed and manufactured in School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering.
According to the public relations of College of Engineering, Dr. Rezvan Nasiri, the person in charge of the project, explained the features of this smart artificial hand as follows: "This artificial hand is designed in accordance with geometry of human hand. Each finger has three knuckles and the whole hand uses the Series Elastic Actuator (SEA) spring mechanism, which gives it 7 attractive features.
He added: "some other features of this hand are the possibility of grasping objects with different shapes, reducing energy consumption, controlling the position of the artificial hand, controlling the force applied to objects, detecting the sliding of objects, controlling impedance, and high safety, all of which have been implemented only by using two engines. It’s worth saying that all the stages of designing and manufacturing the laboratory sample of this artificial hand were carried out by a team from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Tehran University, under the supervision of Dr. Rezvan Nasiri, and the National Science Foundation of Iran sponsored this project.
Erfan Kochakzadeh, Alireza Kargar, Parsa Sattari and Sayeda Diba Ravanshid were among the students who participated in this project.
